A.R.S. §23-961.

Arizona requires nearly every employer with one or more employees, full time or part time, to carry workers compensation — A.R.S. §23-961. There is no minimum headcount. And if you hold an ROC licence with employees, the Registrar wants a certificate of insurance on file. If your renewal is more than 120 days out, get an indication now and hold it against the renewal offer when it lands. Inside 120 days, we can work a real quote.

1 employee. That is the Arizona threshold.

A.R.S. §23-961

Employers shall secure workers' compensation to their employees in one of the following ways: 1. By insuring and keeping insured the payment of such compensation with an insurance carrier authorized by the director of the department of insurance and financial institutions to write workers' compensation insurance in this state. 2. By furnishing to the commission satisfactory proof of financial ability to pay the compensation directly or through a workers' compensation pool approved by the commission in the amount and manner and when due as provided in this chapter.

What Arizona requires

Nearly every employer with one or more employees, full time or part time, must carry workers compensation. There is no minimum headcount. A.R.S. §23-961. If you hold an ROC licence and you have employees, the Registrar of Contractors wants a certificate of insurance on file.

What we need from you

Nine questions. No ACORD form. No insurance vocabulary. Mod at 1.30 or under and premium under $50,000: we do not ask for loss runs. You never have to tell your current agent you are shopping.

What you get

An indication in one to two business days, reviewed and signed by a licensed principal of this agency. Hold it against the renewal. Inside 120 days, we can work a real quote. Direct-billed on Clear Spring paper.

The ROC certificate

If you hold an Arizona ROC contractor licence and you have employees, the Registrar of Contractors wants a certificate of insurance on file. We issue that certificate as part of binding. You do not have to remember the filing, and you do not have to hope the general contractor’s COI request is the same document the Registrar wants.
